Two-factor authentication settings

What is two-factor authentication and how does it work on Soctrip?

Only when you have access to your Soctrip account can you enable two-factor authentication. If you can't access your account, learn about how to set a new password.

Two-factor authentication is a security feature (optional) for personal accounts on Soctrip. Accordingly, users will have to enter a security code provided by a third-party security service when trying to log in to their account from a new device or browser.

If you haven't saved your password in the browser you're using, you'll be asked to do so when you turn on two-factor authentication. Don't Save your password if you're using a public computer accessible to others. If you save your password, you won't have to enter your security code when you log in again.

In addition to password, two-factor authentication is a security feature to protect your Soctrip account in case your password is stolen.

How to enable two-factor authentication?
Download and install an authenticator app on your phone such as Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, Microsoft Authenticator, Duo, v.v. to use this feature.

Computer Mobile apps
  1. Click on the avatar thumbnail ava2.png in the upper right corner of the Soctrip home page screen and select Settings and privacy
  2. Select Security
  3. Click on Two-factor authentication and select Set up two-factor authentication
  4. To confirm user information, enter password and click Continue
You will see a QR code to set up your Soctrip account authentication via a third-party authenticator such as Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, Microsoft Authenticator, Duo.
  5. Open one of the above mentioned apps and tap the Add code button. You have 2 options:
    • Scan QR code: Hold your phone up to the screen so the camera can scan the QR code.
    • Enter setup key: Enter exactly a code consisting of letters and numbers provided by Soctrip after clicking key setup.
  6. After adding the setup key, you will receive a 6-digit verification code from the authenticator app. Enter this verification code into the Verify box to complete enabling two-factor authentication.

Note

The third-party authenticator's authentication code consists of 6 random digits and is automatically generated every 30 seconds.

The third-party authenticator is quite convenient to use as it can save multiple Soctrip accounts and multiple applications at the same time.
